Rep. Ilhan Omar has come under fire this week after a clip resurfaced showing her erroneously calling World War II ‘World War Eleven’ while delivering a speech.
In the January 22, 2025, footage, Omar, joined by fellow Democrats, was advocating for the repeal of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a law previously invoked by President Trump. As she recited her statement, a notable gaffe occurred.
Omar stated, ‘The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven,’ misreading her prepared remarks.
Catching the mistake, she laughed and corrected herself quickly, saying, ‘Oh … two … sorry.’
The clip spread rapidly across social media, attracting a wave of criticism from users questioning how someone in Congress could make such a basic error.
President Trump had previously criticized Omar’s intelligence, labeling her as ‘Low IQ Ilhan Omar’ in a post earlier this year, a sentiment echoed by many as the video circulated.

MAGA influencer Sarah Sizzle remarked, ‘She learned history at the Quality Learing Center,’ referring to a discredited daycare connected to a larger fraud investigation.
Some observers found the moment so surreal that they speculated it might have been fabricated.
Conservative columnist Ed Morrissey commented, ‘Was this for real? I thought it might be AI.’
Another user even crafted a mock New York Times front page attributing ‘World War Eleven’ to Trump.
This incident reignited critiques of Omar’s public persona and the attention it garners, as many see this slip as indicative of a troubling trend in Washington politics. Critics took to social media, stating, ‘This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the stupidist generation of politicians the world has witnessed.’
Omar’s office has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.
