Tragic Discovery: Rabbi Found Dismembered in Bogotá

A rabbi from New York, Nachum Israel Eber, was tragically found dismembered in a closet in Bogotá, Colombia, after being reported missing by his family.

The gruesome discovery occurred on a street where residents noticed a bloodstained wardrobe. This followed Eber’s disappearance after he went silent while visiting Colombia to guide a group of Catholic converts to Judaism.

At 51 years old and a devoted father from Brooklyn’s Belz Hasidic community, Eber had last been seen leaving his accommodation late in the evening on April 21.

His relatives grew worried when they couldn’t contact him, prompting a search. Surveillance footage confirmed his last known whereabouts just hours before he vanished.

Authorities later linked Eber’s remains to the missing rabbi after residents reported the bloodied wardrobe. While investigators are still determining the motive, local reports suggest that he might have been victimized by a gang targeting tourists.

It’s believed he was murdered during a robbery, with thieves taking his personal belongings and identification.

In the wake of this tragedy, Eber’s family is arranging for his remains to be sent to Israel for burial, while also coordinating with Colombian officials to potentially avoid an autopsy.
