President Trump made a comeback to a Manhattan courtroom for the trial involving alleged ‘hush money’ lawfare led by Alvin Bragg.
Once again, prosecutors brought forth their key witness, Michael Cohen, who has been convicted of perjury, to testify in court.
Cohen stunned the public by confessing that he stole tens of thousands of dollars from Trump and lied to Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg.
“You did steal from the Trump Organization based upon the expected reimbursement from Red Finch,” Blanche asked him, making reference to a repayment plan that was intended to pay adult film performer Stormy Daniels $130,000 and tech firm Red Finch $50,000.
“Yes sir,” Cohen said in response.
“Have you paid back the Trump Organization the money you stole from them?” Blanche asked.
“No, sir,” Cohen responded.
He also admitted he would lie to the jury if it affected his personal life.
MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell defended Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, for stealing $30,000 from the Trump Organization and lying to its CFO, Allen Weisselberg.
Lawrence O’Donnell argued that Michael Cohen’s actions shouldn’t be considered stealing because Cohen claimed he deserved bonus.
“It didn’t really sound like stealing $30,000. It sounded a lot like Michael Cohen doing the little that he could within that calculation to rebalance the bonus he thought he deserved, and it still came out as less than the bonus he thought he deserved and the bonus he had gotten the year before,” Lawrence O’Donnell said.
