U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) declared in a post on X that “contempt is on the table” for Fulton County DA Fani Willis after she allegedly failed to produce subpoenaed documents.
In a letter sent by Jordan, who is the House Judiciary Committee chairman, he notes that while she has produced some documents, her compliance to the subpoena to date is “deficient.”
Jordan then stated in a quote post of the letter by the House Judiciary GOP that, “Georgians deserve to know where their federal tax dollars are going.”
“But Fani Willis hasn’t produced the documents we subpoenaed. Contempt is on the table,” Jordan declared.
In the letter, Jordan gave Willis a deadline of 12:00 p.m. on March 28, 2024, to produce the documents or the Committee will consider taking further action.
The documents requested are in relation to the House Judiciary Committee’s oversight of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office’s receipt and use of federal grant funds issued by the United States Department of Justice.
The subpoena was issued on February 2, 2024, after several attempts to obtain voluntary compliance from Willis, according to the letter.
On February 23, 2024, Willis set a response in a letter in which she “smeared a former employee of (hers) who spoke out about (her) misuse of federal grant funds.”
