Disappearance of Air Force General Linked to UFO Discussions Raises Eyebrows

A retired Air Force major general, known for his ties to UFO lore, reportedly had dinner with members of the U.S. Space Force just hours before he went missing in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

William Neil McCasland, 68, has not been seen since February 27 when he was last reported near Quail Run Court NE. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert to help locate him, signaling that he may be at risk.

Body-camera footage shared by the Law&Crime Network captures conversations with an unidentified woman who stated that she and Space Force personnel met with McCasland at a restaurant around 6 p.m. on February 26. The woman is associated with the Kirtland Partnership, a nonprofit focused on Kirtland Air Force Base, a critical research hub in New Mexico containing nuclear facilities.

The Space Force is officially responsible for operations in space, safeguarding satellites, and monitoring unidentified objects for national security, a role that has fueled ongoing speculation regarding UFOs.

The witness indicated that McCasland maintained connections within sensitive circles, suggesting he had significant access, conflicting with his wife’s claims of him only having routine clearances post-retirement.

“He was the head of Air Force Research Lab to the point the man’s names are in the UFO documents that are fixed to be released,” the witness claimed to police. “He’s in that depth, so he has a very high security clearance.”

However, the woman noted something felt amiss during their dinner.

“I was shocked this morning when I saw the alert because what I noticed Thursday evening [February 26] is that he wasn’t his usual self. He was kind of spacey and quiet,” she said.

McCasland’s wife, Susan Wilkerson, expressed her disbelief over his disappearance. In recorded footage, she mentioned that he had been prescribed a new medication designed to assist his sleep and alleviate concerning symptoms.

“Today he had taken a drug that the doctor prescribed last night that was supposed to help him sleep,” said Wilkerson.

She added, “With weight gain, he’s lost about 20 pounds for no reason, and with anxiety, today he woke up and said, ‘Well, I have got better sleep, but it’s like the after effects of a bad hangover. I’m just foggy. I can’t get any motivation to do anything.’”

Wilkerson also revealed that McCasland had been consulting doctors about various physical and mental health concerns. She shared that he expressed fears about his mental health deteriorating and left home without his phone, wearable devices, or identification, leading her to believe he “had planned not to be found.”

Authorities reported that McCasland changed clothes before leaving and took only a pair of boots and a .38-caliber revolver, with no sign of him since then.

Previously, McCasland held leadership positions at both Kirtland Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, both of which have long been associated with advanced aerospace research and unexplained phenomena. The Space Force has acknowledged significant operations at these locations recently.

UFO conversations remain tied to Wright-Patterson, with claims from past government scientists regarding debris from the 1947 Roswell incident allegedly being studied there. Officials consistently state that these sites focus on national security and defense.

Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett has notably linked McCasland to America’s so-called UFO pipeline, and whistleblower David Grusch has also referenced him in discussions about non-human craft recoveries and reverse-engineering allegations.

Investigators have canvassed neighbors following McCasland’s disappearance. One neighbor, described in the footage as a former subordinate, claimed McCasland’s vanishing was highly uncharacteristic.

“He used to be my boss. My boss’s boss’s boss,” the neighbor stated, elaborating on McCasland’s distinguished career. “He was this scary colonel. He’s a PhD. I’m a PhD, but like he’s a PhD in some other science, engineering and then he ran the scientific lab and he’s smart as hell.”

Online discussions have linked McCasland’s case to other recent disappearances involving government workers and scientists associated with facilities he managed, although authorities have not officially connected these cases.
