Democrat Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) tried to stump for President Joe Biden while on “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos over the weekend.
When Coons was asked about polling that showed Biden trailing President Donald Trump, he was forced to admit the 45th POTUS could win reelection.
He told Stephanopoulos, “I think we should be worried given [Trump’s] conduct and given his record.”
Pres. Biden is “sharp, he’s skillful, and he’s continuing to lead as our president, despite the distractions of former Pres. Trump’s rising legal problems,” Democratic Sen. Chris Coons tells @GStephanopoulos. https://t.co/Ise3ja0zwf pic.twitter.com/s6nzrufXTb

Coons tried to draw differences between Trump and Joe Biden and the mishandling of classified documents.
He argued that the case against Trump was strong and the difference was that Trump “willfully” retained documents.
“Former Pres. Trump has no one to blame but himself for being federally, criminally indicted.”

Coons told Stephanopoulos, “This isn’t a minor case of who kept a handful of documents inadvertently.
“He’s been charged for knowingly and willingly concealing, that he retained willfully federal documents that were critical to our national defense.”
Stephanopoulos also asked Coons for his response to the claim that the Department of Justice has been weaponized.
Coons replied, “There’s no evidence.”
Many others feel there are lots of examples. RNC Research shared a few, “Russia collusion hoax? Targeting parents at school board meetings and pro-life demonstrators?”

No one knows what to expect from the indictment Trump is facing.
This is the first time in U.S. history that a former president has been charged with a federal crime.
Trump continues to poll more than 30+ points ahead of other Republican contenders in the 2024 race.
For now, it appears that Trump may just be the nominee.
We will see what comes next in this evolving case.
