New Jersey’s political power structure is in upheaval. Sheila Oliver, the Lt. Gov of New Jersey has passed away at 71.
Democrat Governor Phil Murphy is out of the state.
This leaves no one at the wheel to some degree.
The state Senate president is supposed to act as temporary governor in a situation like this although it’s unclear if that’s going to happen yet.

The Governor’s office released a statement:
“Tammy and I, and our children, are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and partner in government, @LtGovOliver.
