President Joe Biden is recounting an anecdote in which he asserts that he was apprehended alongside a Black family while standing on a porch during the civil rights movement. In a recent interview on the radio program hosted by Howard Stern, Biden candidly shared details of a conversation he purportedly had with his mother.
According to the narrative, his mother recollected a specific instance when a neighborhood was undergoing desegregation, and she cautioned him to steer clear. Nevertheless, he chose to disregard her admonition.
His mother allegedly said:
“There was a Black family moving in. And people were down there protesting. I told you not to go down there and you went down. Remember that? And you got arrested standing on the porch with a Black family.”
Biden said he responded, “Yeah, mom I remember that.”

Biden has previously shared false stories about being arrested, like the one where he said he was arrested while attempting to visit Nelson Mandela. In that same interview, he was questioned about whether he had ever saved someone during his time as a lifeguard.
“Yeah, half a dozen times,” Biden said.
“You ever save anyone’s life when you were a lifeguard?”
