U.S. Vessels Under Fire From Iranian Forces in Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that Iranian forces targeted U.S. vessels in the Strait of Hormuz with an array of attacks, including speedboats and drones.

According to CENTCOM, the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason faced a barrage as they passed through this crucial international waterway. Fortunately, there were no hits on U.S. ships, as confirmed in a statement.

CENTCOM took defensive action against incoming threats and effectively targeted Iranian sites responsible for these attacks, ensuring that American forces remained protected. The command emphasized its commitment to safeguarding U.S. interests without seeking further escalation.

This conflict intensified after reports from CBS News detailed more aggressive Iranian actions than seen earlier in the week, when U.S. forces had to fire upon approaching Iranian speedboats.

During a renewed assault, the same destroyers were under heavier attack, with fast-attack boats coming dangerously close. U.S. warships had to fire warning shots to establish a safe distance.

Along with these boats, Iranian forces utilized drones and missiles in a prolonged confrontation. The U.S. also deployed supporting aircraft for a robust defense, neutralizing threats and successfully completing their transit without casualties.

In parallel to these events, there have been reports of strikes on Iranian military installations and ports near the Strait. There were also unverified reports of activity within Tehran’s air defense systems during these operations.

While President Donald Trump has not yet addressed the situation, CENTCOM reiterated the importance of stability in the region following the ceasefire established in April. This story remains ongoing, and updates will be provided as they emerge.
