Recent strikes by the U.S. military targeted Iranian ports and vital infrastructure, as reported by Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin. These operations were conducted on Thursday afternoon.
According to a senior U.S. defense official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, “US military just carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Port and Bandar Abbas.” Importantly, the official emphasized that this was not a renewal of war hostilities.

Reports from Iranian state media outlets such as Fars and Tasnim stated there were multiple explosions in southern Iran, particularly around Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, located near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media indicated that the Bahman Pier, a facility used for commercial and passenger traffic on Qeshm Island’s eastern side, was damaged during confrontations between Iranian forces and an unidentified adversary. Local sources reported missile activity in the area.
Some reports from sources associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps suggested the United Arab Emirates was behind the strikes. They warned that should this be confirmed, the UAE would face consequences for their alleged actions.
Further mentions of gunfire and clashes surfaced during these events, though details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage remain unclear.
This latest round of strikes followed U.S. actions against Iranian speed boats in the Strait of Hormuz, which have been largely involved in blocking navigation. These confrontations represent the first escalation since a ceasefire was established earlier in April.
In reaction, Iran conducted attacks on UAE oil infrastructure, escalating tensions further, with reports indicating the nation intended to retaliate.
Griffin elaborated that the strike on Iran’s oil port occurred after Iran had fired missiles toward the UAE’s Fujairah Port, which prompted backlash from Gulf nations. Pentagon officials had downplayed the Iranian attacks, categorizing them as low-level incidents.
Additionally, President Trump had abruptly halted Project Freedom, aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz, after initiating military operations. The decision to pause drew significant reactions from Gulf allies.
Griffin also conveyed that both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had initially ceased U.S. operations from their bases for Project Freedom, a decision they later reversed due to frustrations with how U.S. leadership addressed the Iranian strikes.

Reports of more U.S. strikes surfaced from Tehran, where active air defenses were noted. Additional attacks alongside the Iranian coast also took place.
The Iranian military alleged that they engaged a U.S. vessel as it tried to intercept an Iranian ship in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that U.S. vessels suffered damage and retreated, although these assertions lack verification.
