Tragic Discovery: Missing GOP Candidate Found Deceased

Barry Christian, a Republican nominee for Oklahoma State Senate District 38, went missing after failing to attend a scheduled meeting on April 28. Tragically, police later confirmed that he had been found deceased.

The 54-year-old from Sayre was last in contact on the same day and was believed to be in a charcoal gray 2024 Ram pickup. The Harmon County and Beckham County Sheriff’s Offices released a description of Christian, noting he was around 6 feet tall, weighing 230 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair.

Authorities urged the public to reach out to the Sayre Police Department with any information regarding his whereabouts.

On April 30, a vehicle matching the description of Christian’s truck was discovered on the roadside in a remote area near Highway 30. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) dispatched crime scene technicians to examine the vehicle.

Later that afternoon, Christian was discovered deceased inside his truck. The cause of death remains undetermined, and officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding it.

A spokesperson for Christian’s campaign announced that the investigation is ongoing, with more details pending notification of family members and further analysis.

Brooklyn, Christian’s daughter, expressed her sorrow, stating, “Our world is upside down right now. We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad’s legacy with dignity. We are extremely grateful to everyone who assisted in the search efforts.” Brooklyn emphasized that many will be heartbroken by her father’s passing. Her heartfelt message highlighted the impact he had on the community.

Prior to his disappearance, Christian had been active in his campaign activities, attending local events such as the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby.

A seasoned professional in the petroleum sector, Christian entered the political race after incumbent Senator Brent Howard announced he would not seek reelection. His candidacy was notably endorsed by pro-Trump musician Kid Rock, showcasing their personal friendship.

He leaves behind three children and three grandchildren.
