Democrat Calls for Severe Punishment of Pete Hegseth Over Military Actions

During a contentious hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Seth Moulton, from Massachusetts, launched a serious accusation against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, equating his actions to historical war crimes.

This exchange occurred while Hegseth was addressing the House Armed Services Committee regarding military strikes on suspected drug-running vessels in the Caribbean. Moulton claimed that targeting boats could lead to violations of international law, suggesting it could amount to a “war crime” under the Geneva Conventions.

Hegseth defended the operations, asserting that U.S. forces adhere to established “rules of engagement,” emphasizing the skill and dedication of American soldiers.

Later, in an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett, Moulton reiterated his stance, confidently stating, “Absolutely,” when asked if Hegseth had committed war crimes. He criticized the justification behind the strikes, labeling the alleged narco-terrorists as likely innocent fishermen striving to support their families.

Moulton elaborated that there were reports of non-combatants being harmed, intensifying his condemnation of the military’s actions.

Furthermore, Moulton escalated the rhetoric by drawing parallels to Nazi Germany, insisting that similar offenses during that era led to severe consequences for those involved.

“And guess what the conclusion was? They got executed,” he warned, addressing the Secretary directly.
