Rep. Jerry Nadler has increased his attacks on President Donald Trump amidst another alarming failed assassination attempt against the president.
The New York Democrat recently utilized this heightened rhetoric to advocate for legislation aimed at preventing Trump’s name from being displayed on federal buildings and monuments.
“Donald Trump is a convicted felon, a twice impeached president, and America’s chief insurrectionist,” Nadler asserted. He claimed that honoring Trump with federal structures would link public places to “tyranny.”
“His name is unfit to honor our nation’s buildings. I am proud to introduce this bill to stop Donald Trump from using taxpayer-funded buildings for his personal vanity projects, because New Yorkers deserve public spaces that they can respect, not monuments to tyranny and corruption,” he stated.
Nadler shared his remarks in a video on X, featuring a collection of establishment media headlines regarding the issue, one of which stated, “Dictator vibes as dear leader Trump puts name front and center.”
This initiative emerged just two days after reports of another would-be assassin targeting Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend. Authorities have accused Cole Allen, a California teacher, of attempting to breach security with firearms and knives.

Allen also purportedly sent a manifesto expressing his animosity toward Trump and his administration. The manifesto included the line, “I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.”
Despite the stark messages in the manifesto, former President Barack Obama faced criticism after suggesting that the motives behind this attack were unclear. Trump allies swiftly pointed out that the writings left little doubt regarding intent.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, during a Monday briefing, asserted that the attempted attack exposed a perilous political climate.
“The left-wing cult of hatred against the president and all of those who support him and work for him has gotten multiple people hurt and killed, and it almost did so again this weekend,” Leavitt emphasized.
She urged the public to reflect on the language used by Allen compared to the prevalent rhetoric directed at Trump, stating, “Ask yourselves, how different is the rhetoric from this almost-assassin than what you read on social media and here in various forums every single day? The answer, if you’re being honest with yourself, is that there is no difference at all.”
On Monday, the Justice Department officially charged Allen with attempting to assassinate Trump.
