Democrat Congresswoman Appears to Threaten Riots if Joe Biden Agrees to GOP Spending Cuts Over Debt Ceiling Impasse

U.S. House Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) shared there would be “a huge backlash… in the streets” if Joe Biden agreed to spending cuts.

Radical extreme leftist Democrat Joe Biden and moderate Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy have been trying to negotiate a deal over the debt ceiling. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has been warning Congress that there is only a little time left to address the debt ceiling before the country could default.

Estimates of a possible default are as early as June 1st. This does not leave much time for an agreement to be reached to raise the debt ceiling.

A CNN reporter talked to different lawmakers on the steps of the Capitol Tuesday morning. Jayapal stated, “I think there would be a huge backlash from our entire House Democratic caucus, the progressives, but also in the streets. You know I mean I think that it is important that we don’t take steps back from the very strong agenda that the president shepherded and led over the last two years.”

Democrats are pushing Biden not to agree to spending caps or work requirements for social programs. It sounds like the Democrats want Biden to give no ground when it comes to spending. Jayapal’s comment seems to show she believes her constituents would be ready to take to the streets if things don’t go the way progressives want them to.

McCarthy has made it clear that raising taxes isn’t on the table. In a press conference, he relayed that “we have more revenue coming into government in a fifty-year average and any other time in the history. Only two other times did we have this high of a percentage. But the problem is we’re spending more than almost any time in modern history.”

As June draws closer, Biden and McCarthy seem to be meeting more frequently in an effort to hammer out a deal.
