‘You’re Going to Regret This’: Bodycam Video Shows Dem Assistant AG’s Arrest

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan, an appointee in the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office, was arrested Thursday night in Newport after refusing to leave the Clarke Cooke House restaurant, according to WJAR.

Police were dispatched around 9:51 p.m. on August 14 after repeated reports that Hogan and her friend, Veronica Hannan, would not comply with staff requests to leave.

Hogan resisted officers, repeatedly identifying herself by shouting “I’M AN AG” at least 11 times.

Bodycam Footage

Bodycam video shows Hogan telling police, “Buddy, you’re gonna regret this,” while insisting on her status as an assistant attorney general. One officer responded: “Good for you. I don’t give a sh*t.”

The exchange has since circulated widely on social media. In one clip, Hogan attempts to yell “I’M AN A—” before officers close the cruiser door.

Friend’s Confrontation with Police

Hogan’s companion, Veronica Hannan, also resisted arrest. Police reports say Hannan slipped out of her handcuffs, kicked, screamed, and even “growled and hissed” at officers in front of a growing public crowd.

An officer’s statement noted that Hannan screamed, “Get your f***ing hands off me” while officers attempted to restrain her. A large crowd reportedly gathered due to the disturbance.

Booking and Release

Both women were booked at the Newport Police Department. Officers reported Hogan was “extremely uncooperative, berating officers, repeatedly stating her position as an AG and refusing to follow instructions.”

Hogan was released with a District Court summons. Hannan was also charged and placed in custody.
