Watch: Trump Cabinet Holds Powerful Prayer for Texas

Before the cameras were allowed into Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and the full Cabinet bowed their heads for a spontaneous prayer led by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner — a former Texas state legislator, NFL player, and Baptist pastor.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the moment on X:

“Before the press were brought into the room, @SecretaryTurner led the President, Vice President, and entire Cabinet in a spontaneous and powerful prayer for the people of Texas. This was a truly beautiful moment.”

“We Know Who to Trust”

Turner began his prayer with reverence and humility:

“Father, we’re humbled by your grace, we’re humbled by your mercy. Lord God, we surrender to you. Jesus, you are the great redeemer.”

He continued, lifting up the grieving families across Texas:

“We don’t understand… but we know who — we know who to trust.”

Turner asked for God’s peace to comfort those who have lost loved ones, and for wisdom for the Cabinet, as they guide the response to the deadly floods that have claimed over 100 lives.

Scripture and Service

Quoting Isaiah, Turner reminded the room of their duty:

“We are the restorers of the breach and the repairers of the streets.”

He gave thanks for first responders and military personnel already working tirelessly on the ground.

Trump, Melania to Visit Texas Friday

President Trump announced that he and First Lady Melania Trump will travel to Texas at the end of the week:

“We don’t want to get in anyone’s way… What a tragic situation.”

The President has already mobilized federal resources, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the response effort is “all hands on deck.”

Noem: “Texas Is Strong”

Secretary Noem confirmed that the Coast Guard, CBP agents, and FEMA have all deployed resources:

“Texas is strong and the people of Texas are incredibly strong… We are still looking for people. They will continue until they find every single person and we will continue to help them.”

One Hero, 165 Rescued

Among the stories of heroism, 26-year-old Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan is being credited with saving 165 lives — mostly children — at Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ camp near Kerrville.

“There were 200 kids looking to someone for some sort of comfort and safety,” Ruskan told Good Morning America.“I had to live up to that standard.”
