Watch: ‘The View’ Compares Jan. 6 to the Holocaust in Wild Rant

Sunny Hostin, co-host of ABC’s The View, once again proved she’s no stranger to extreme rhetoric during Monday’s broadcast. In another tirade, Hostin likened the events of January 6, 2021, to some of the darkest moments in human history, including the Holocaust and chattel slavery.

Hostin’s meltdown began as the panel discussed accountability and the need for moral clarity in American politics.

She took aim at Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Condoleezza Rice, accusing them of “backtracking” on their initial condemnation of January 6.

“January 6th was an atrocity,” Hostin said. “It was one of the worst moments in American history.” Hostin then seriously compared a breach at the Capitol to the systematic genocide of Jews and centuries of brutal enslavement of African Americans.

“When you think about the worst moments in American history, you know, like World War II, things that happened, you know, like the Holocaust, chattel slavery—we need to never forget because past becomes prologue if you forget and erase.”

This isn’t the first time Hostin has faced criticism for her inflammatory comments. Over the years, the co-host has developed a reputation for turning heated political debates into over-the-top sermons, often alienating viewers with her extreme takes.

If The View hoped to offer a space for balanced discussion, Hostin’s remarks suggest they’re moving further away from that goal.
