Watch: Socialist Zohran Mamdani Called for ‘Abolition of Private Property’

New York City’s far-left Democrat nominee for mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is once again raising red flags after openly embracing the idea of abolishing private property in a resurfaced video clip.

Despite left-wing media outlets insisting Mamdani is not a communist, his own words tell a different story.

“Abolish Private Property”

In the newly circulating podcast clip, Mamdani frames his extremist views in the usual soft language of “equity” and “housing rights.”

“If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing—whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it, you know, just a statewide housing guarantee—it is preferable to what is going on right now,” Mamdani says.

He goes on to downplay the statement as if it’s just about compassion:

“People try and play gotcha games about these kinds of things… I care more about whether somebody has a home.”

Critics say Mamdani’s comments are straight out of the Marxist playbook, and that his housing rhetoric masks a dangerous agenda to dismantle property rights in America’s largest city.

“He claims to be a socialist. Whether it’s wanting to abolish private property or wanting to seize the means of production—these are communist ideas right out of the playbook of Karl Marx,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) told Fox News Digital.

Despite the video evidence, Politifact, a so-called “fact-checking” site frequently used by the left, absurdly rated the claim that Mamdani is a communist as “FALSE.”

Who Is Zohran Mamdani?

Mamdani is a self-described democratic socialist who has been endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other members of the radical DSA (Democratic Socialists of America).

His campaign has focused on rent control, police defunding, and housing redistribution, pushing policies more commonly seen in Cuba or Venezuela than in the United States.
