11 Victims Confirmed
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a Saturday press conference that 11 people were stabbed—six men and five women. Three victims required surgery. The suspect, described as a 42-year-old male acting alone, was taken into custody at the scene.
Authorities added that shoppers helped both in subduing the attacker and providing aid to victims before emergency personnel arrived.
Footage Matches Police Account
In the background of the video, someone is heard saying, “several people have been stabbed.” The man in the video matches the timeline and description released by officials, but authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of the man shown.
Hospital Overwhelmed
Munson Medical Center received all 11 stabbing victims. In a statement, they said:
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this event… We are grateful to first responders and law enforcement for their swift action.”
The hospital’s emergency department is experiencing unusually high patient volume as a result.
Governor Responds
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer commented on the incident:
“Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence. I am grateful to the first responders for their swift response to apprehend the suspect.”
