USA basketball star Steph Curry has endorsed Kamala Harris as she prepares for her presidential matchup against Donald Trump this fall.
Harris is poised to replace Joe Biden in the presidential race after the current President announced on Sunday that he will not seek reelection and endorsed his current VP as the next Democratic leader.
If that turns out to be true, she will face off against Trump in the critical election this November.
Speaking before Team USA’s Olympics opener against Serbia this weekend, Curry made it clear where he stands politically by endorsing Harris as the next President.
“Interesting times in our country right now,” the Golden State Warriors point guard said. “Hopefully with her on the ticket, we’re winning the election. It’s a big deal, to say the least.”
Harris, a lifelong Warriors fan born in Oakland, has previously called the team a “constant source of joy and pride.”
Curry added of the former U.S. Senator: “She represents the Bay Area and is a big support of us, and we’re gonna give that energy right back to her.”
“For her in this moment going ahead, it’s all about positive energy and optimism knowing how divided our country is right now,” he continued. “I’m just excited for the journey ahead for her.”
Curry previously aligned himself with the Democrats during the 2020 presidential election.
In a video with his wife Ayesha, the NBA star revealed that they supported Biden over Republican leader Trump in the 2020 election.
“We want to ensure that our kids live in a nation that is safe, happy, healthy and fair and so this election,” Ayesha said to kick the video off.
“We’re voting for Joe Biden,” Curry said.
Curry has also clashed with Trump in the past, notably declining an invitation to visit the White House during Trump’s presidency in 2017.
Trump responded by withdrawing his invitation to Golden State’s NBA championship-winning team on Twitter (now X).
