In an unhinged social media post on Saturday evening, a UCLA professor called on the U.S. Military to violently depose President Donald Trump.
The threat was made by Peter Arenella, who teaches multiple law courses at the prestigious school, as well as seminars on “moral agency” and “criminal law excuse theory,” according to his university biography.
“At this point, my only hope for the US to avoid becoming an ally to Russia is a violent resistance by our military. Tragic to say that because the military are trained to avoid any politically motivated intervention,” the professor said of the democratically elected president.
“Firing all the Joint Chief of Staff military leaders and replacing them with military acolytes of Trump anticipated that possibility and acted swiftly to minimize that type of intervention. Ultimately, we will get what we deserve by giving Trump a second chance to destroy our democracy,” the post, which is still live as of 8:30 Eastern Time, continued.
According to his biography, Arenella is a recipient of the School of Law’s Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching.
“He is a nationally recognized criminal law and procedure scholar, writing about the relationship between criminal and moral responsibility by exploring competing conceptions of criminal culpability and moral agency at work in immaturity and mental disability defenses (e.g., insanity, diminished capacity, mental retardation),” Arenella’s biography reads. “His moral agency work in philosophical and legal journals has generated considerable commentary and is frequently cited in ongoing debates about the justifications for criminal punishment. He has also written extensively on the privilege against self incrimination and grand jury practices.”
He once achieved national prominence while working as a legal analyst for ABC News during the O.J. Simpson murder trial in 1995. Arenella has also provided legal analysis for ABC News, Los Angeles KNX radio and KTLA Channel 5.
In addition, Arenella provides annual lectures on Supreme Court decisions to federal and state appellate judges and speaks regularly on criminal law issues to civic groups, attorneys, judges, law faculty, and students across the country, his biography continues.
The long-tenured law professor has a history of making insane, anti-Trump comments and endorsements of far-left ideology. “If history of the US Presidency doesn’t end with a fascist, racist and authoritarian President putting the last nail in the coffin of our democracy, Biden will be remembered for being one of our best leaders,” Arenella wrote in an Inauguration Day X post earlier this year.
“His pre-emptive pardons of American heroes like Fauci and the Jan 6th committee members reflects his courage and wisdom because he knows Trump will weaponize the DOJ to go after his adversaries,” he continued.
In a separate post, Arenella stated that he has been “begging HS and College kids to plan a massive protest for the past 2 yrs: what better time and place to do it than Washington, DC on our national day of shame when Trump is sworn in to be President. If you agree, repost it to any young followers you have.”
His tweet quickly sparked an uproar across social media with many users calling for the FBI and Secret Service to investigate Arenella and arrest him.

What you are calling for, is disgraceful and you shouldn’t be so much as teaching cows how to moo, much less teaching the next generation of America. Resign sir, this is not the way.

This UCLA law professor and ABC law professor has 13k followers seeing his incitement of a military takeover. The Left no longer tolerates opposition. And what does UCLA teach its law students about America? pic.twitter.com/Z5NAhlAvhu

This UCLA law professor is a perfect example of the radical left’s disdain for democracy and free speech.
They can’t accept that Trump won the election with help from Elon Musk, so they resort to calling for a military coup.
This kind of rhetoric is dangerous and un-American,…
