UAE Issues Strong Warning to Iran Amid Recent Attacks

The United Arab Emirates has made a bold declaration to retaliate against Iran following recent assaults on its oil and gas facilities. This comes in the wake of the Pentagon’s operations targeting small boats used by Iran to launch attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions further.

A UAE government spokesperson confirmed that Iranian missiles and drones have hit several critical infrastructure sites across the nation.

This incident marks the first time Iranian forces have launched strikes on the UAE since the onset of a fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire in early April. Initially brokered by Pakistan, this ceasefire has effectively unraveled amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Throughout the ceasefire, the U.S. has maintained its operations against Iranian naval threats, recently issuing updates that allow the U.S. Navy to engage incoming Iranian fast boats. Previous military actions had reportedly eliminated at least 16 Iranian mine-laying vessels in the strait to ensure safe passage for commercial ships.

Notably, these new attacks occurred less than a day after President Donald Trump announced plans for the U.S. Navy to escort ships through the strait, a vital passage for global oil—approximately one-fifth of oil exports transit here. The ongoing conflict has severely impacted oil markets worldwide.

The Iranian assault on the UAE included strikes on an ADNOC-affiliated oil tanker and the crucial Fujairah Oil Industry Zone. Fortunately, UAE air defenses managed to intercept three cruise missiles before another fell harmlessly into the sea.

A fire at a petroleum facility in Fujairah was reported, likely resulting from either a drone strike or debris from interception efforts. While three Indian nationals suffered injuries, there have been no further casualties or major damage confirmed thus far.

In light of these provocations, UAE officials have asserted their right to retaliate against Iranian aggressions. A statement from the UAE’s foreign affairs office emphasized their commitment to safeguarding national security and responding to these unprovoked attacks in line with international law.

The Ministry categorically condemned actions targeting civilians and infrastructure, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and holding Iran accountable for its actions.

A senior UAE defense figure remarked that a response to Iran is forthcoming, reflecting the nation’s resolve to defend its territory.

President Trump has continued to urge U.S. allies in the region to participate in military actions against Iran to restore safety in the Strait of Hormuz.
