Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, joked in a private Discord chat that his “doppelganger” had pulled the trigger.
The remarks came just hours after Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, The New York Times reported.
Mocking the Manhunt
The chat included about 20 users, many of them former high school classmates.
Screenshots showed Robinson trading meme-filled jokes as the nation mourned Kirk.
As the FBI released surveillance photos of the suspected gunman, Robinson taunted friends online.
“My doppelganger’s trying to get me in trouble,” he wrote when another user tagged him.

The messages showed him aware of the investigation but mocking its progress.
When someone mentioned the FBI’s $100,000 reward, Robinson quipped, “Only if I get a cut.”
He followed up with another grotesque joke about discarding a “manifesto and exact copy rifle.”

The messages revealed a disturbing lack of remorse.
In one exchange, Robinson joked about faking his own death.
“I’m actually Charlie Kirk,” he typed. “Wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death.”
He said he would “live out my dream life in Kansas.”
Robinson appeared to monitor media reports in real time.

“I heard the ammo had somethin about trans stuff on it,” he wrote.
He speculated about how the FBI was handling the evidence.
“In a red state??? Nah CLEARLY the shooter was from California,” Robinson posted.
He ridiculed the idea of federal intervention in Utah.
Friends in the Discord group expressed disbelief at his tone.
Kirk’s Assassination
Charlie Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot Wednesday.
The gunman fired from a rooftop roughly 200 yards from the stage.
Kirk was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead.

Authorities later confirmed that casings at the scene were etched with political slogans.
One read “Hey fascist! CATCH!” while others included “Bella Ciao” lyrics and a sexual meme.
Robinson himself joked online about how the story would be framed.
Robinson was arrested Friday in southwestern Utah after being confronted by his father.
Family members contacted authorities after learning he had confessed or implied his role.
He faces aggravated murder and firearm charges, with filings expected Tuesday.
President Donald Trump called Kirk a “martyr for truth and freedom.”
Trump announced Kirk will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously.
Turning Point USA vowed his mission will continue across campuses nationwide.
