President Trump had a confrontational moment with a reporter from Newsmax on Monday, abruptly interrupting the journalist’s question to express a preference for CNN’s coverage.
This incident took place at an event in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump was discussing the ongoing conflict with Iran.
The Newsmax reporter, Mike Carter, prompted the President with comments about Iran’s accusations regarding the U.S. administration’s claims about negotiations.
“Iran’s foreign ministry is saying you’re not telling the truth when it comes to productive conversations to end the war,” Carter pointed out.
Trump responded sharply, saying, “Well, they’re gonna have to get themselves better public relations people.”
As Carter moved to ask another question about the deployment of ICE agents, Trump interjected, asking, “Who are you with?”
Upon learning that Carter was from Newsmax, Trump remarked, “You know, you’re not doing a very good job.”
The President then dismissed him again, expressing disbelief at his own statement: “I’m taking CNN over Newsmax, can you believe it?”
This exchange sparked varying reactions online, with some supporters praising Trump’s firm stance against perceived poor questioning, while others were taken aback by his public criticism of a conservative outlet.
Shortly after, Trump continued his remarks, addressing broader issues raised by Joe Kent, who had recently resigned from a government position and publicly criticized Trump on the Iran situation.
Such moments illustrate the evolving dynamics within conservative media and the challenges faced by outlets like Newsmax in the current political climate.
