Trump Rejects Wes Moore’s Baltimore ‘Public Safety Walk,’ Threatens National Guard Deployment

President Donald Trump blasted Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Sunday, rejecting the Democrat’s invitation to join him on a “public safety walk” in Baltimore, saying he won’t visit until the city gets its violent crime problem under control.

“Governor Wes Moore of Maryland has asked, in a rather nasty and provocative tone, that I ‘walk the streets of Maryland’ with him,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I assume he is talking about out of control, crime ridden, Baltimore? As President, I would much prefer that he clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.’”

Moore’s Invitation Letter to Trump

In his invitation letter to Trump, Moore bragged about crime being down — claiming a 22% drop in homicides and a 19% drop in non-fatal shootings in Baltimore compared to last year.

Trump, however, blasted Moore’s record as “very bad” and suggested Democrats may be manipulating crime figures to cover up their failures.

The Department of Justice is already investigating whether Washington, D.C.’s police department falsified crime data, following allegations from Trump and the chairman of the capital’s police union.

Trump’s Response

Trump doubled down on his tough-on-crime stance, threatening to send in the National Guard to Baltimore — just as he did in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles earlier this year.

“If Wes Moore needs help, like Gavin Newscum did in L.A., I will send in the ‘troops,’ which is being done in nearby DC, and quickly clean up the Crime. After only one week, there is NO CRIME AND NO MURDER IN DC! When it is like that in Baltimore, I will proudly ‘walk the streets’ with the failing, because of Crime, Governor of Maryland.”

Baltimore has consistently ranked among America’s most dangerous cities. A recent U.S. News and World Report poll placed it fourth most dangerous in the nation, reinforcing Trump’s repeated criticism of Democrat-run blue cities.

The President has already hinted that Chicago and New York City could be next for Guard deployments under his nationwide crackdown.

Trump also threatened to review the federal aid Maryland received for the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed last year.

“I gave Wes Moore a lot of money to fix his demolished bridge. I will now have to rethink that decision???” Trump posted.

Moore’s Bronze Star controversy resurfaces

In a separate Truth Social post, Trump questioned whether Moore lied about receiving a Bronze Star.

The Democrat governor had claimed the honor on a 2006 fellowship application despite Army records showing otherwise. Moore only received the award late last year after the controversy resurfaced, calling the discrepancy an “honest mistake.”
