Trump Proposes Joint Control Over Strait of Hormuz with Iran

On Monday, President Donald Trump introduced an intriguing proposal regarding the control of the Strait of Hormuz. During a press interaction at Palm Beach International Airport, he reflected on the current state of Iran’s leadership while addressing inquiries from reporters.

When questioned by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins about who governs the crucial waterway, Trump hinted that a resolution might be forthcoming if negotiations with Tehran go well.

He asserted that the Strait would be reopened “real soon,” referring to a deal he has hinted at lately.

“It’ll be jointly controlled,” he stated, regarding this strategic passage.

When pressed about shared control, Trump jestingly responded, “Maybe me, maybe me.”

“Me and the ayatollah, whoever the ayatollah is, whoever the next ayatollah [is],” he remarked, touching on the uncertainty surrounding Iran’s leadership amid rumors about Mojtaba Khamenei’s health.

Trump believes the circumstances in Tehran are reminiscent of an impending political transformation.

“There’s automatically a regime change,” he noted.

In light of recent events, Iranian officials have identified Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader after the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during U.S. and Israeli military actions.

Despite signs of potential peace from the U.S. side, Iran dismissed any discussions of a ceasefire on that day, openly challenging Trump after he indicated a willingness to pause strikes on Iranian energy targets, which he described as stemming from “very good” talks.

A source from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that there had been no communication with Trump, claiming he retreated after realizing that Iranian retaliation could target all power stations in the region.

Additionally, Iranian Major General Abdollahi issued warnings about a “new, secret weapon” set to be deployed soon that would conclude operations against the enemy.

These statements emerged just minutes after Trump claimed both nations had engaged in “productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities.”
