Trump Details Heroic Rescue of Injured Airman from Iranian Territory

President Donald Trump provided a gripping account of a daring rescue mission carried out by U.S. forces in Iran, where a wounded airman managed to survive almost 48 hours alone before rescue.

During a briefing, Trump explained how the airman, part of a two-person crew from an F-15E Strike Eagle, utilized survival instincts after ejecting into enemy territory. One airman was quickly recovered, but the weapons systems officer remained stranded, surrounded by hostile forces.

“In the U.S. military, we leave no American behind. We don’t do it,” Trump emphasized, commending the rescue team’s impressive efforts in retrieving the “heroic” airman from dangerous mountain landscapes.

“The courageous F-15 weapons system officer evaded capture for nearly two days. It’s a challenging situation when you’re injured and bleeding,” Trump noted, highlighting the gravity of the airman’s circumstances.

The injured airman had landed a significant distance from his pilot after their plane was shot down near Isfahan. Although he sustained injuries during the ejection, he managed to distance himself from the wreckage and find shelter in a remote area, evading Iranian patrols searching for him.

As time was of the essence, U.S. officials became concerned that the airman might be captured if he wasn’t located promptly. Limited communication made it crucial for American forces to verify his identity before proceeding.

After two harrowing days, the airman established contact with U.S. forces, prompting the launch of a full-scale rescue operation.

This meticulously coordinated mission incorporated special operations units and intelligence assets, with Trump referring to it as an “incredible rescue.” He noted that various strategies were employed to mislead Iranian forces about the airman’s precise location.

“We executed an elaborate subterfuge to confuse the adversaries,” Trump further explained, illustrating the operation’s complexity.

While the mission was executed overseas, officials in Washington maintained constant communication, demonstrating unwavering commitment. “From the moment our pilots went down, our mission was focused,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated.

U.S. forces strategically deployed drones, fighter jets, and support aircraft to safeguard the mission and divert attention from the extraction site. Advanced intelligence capabilities were instrumental in determining the airman’s whereabouts in challenging terrain.

Approximately 100 special operations troops were sent into the rugged mountains under the cover of night, successfully reaching the airman to prepare him for safe evacuation.

However, the mission was not without complications. Mechanical failures in multiple aircraft created intense moments, necessitating quick decisions to ensure the team’s safe exit.

Ultimately, all personnel were successfully evacuated, though some aircraft were destroyed to protect sensitive technology from Iranian capture.
