President Donald Trump brushed off online speculation about his health on Sunday, declaring he has “never felt better” and highlighting Washington, D.C.’s recent drop in crime following his administration’s takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Trump Pushes Back on Rumors
“NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE. Also, DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social after returning from a weekend of golfing at his Virginia resort.
The post came after days of online speculation fueled by his absence from public events and a blank White House schedule on Friday. The hashtag #TrumpIsDead trended on X, with critics and opponents suggesting something was wrong with the president.
Those rumors ended Saturday when Trump was spotted leaving for a round of golf in Sterling, Virginia, accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai Trump.
DC Crime Crackdown
Even during his low-profile weekend, Trump’s crime initiative in the nation’s capital continued to show results. Violent crime in Washington, D.C. dropped 45% year-over-year, while overall crime is down 15%, according to recent statistics.
Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser acknowledged the improvements at a press conference last week. “We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city,” she said.
Economy and Labor Day
Trump also used the long weekend to promote his economic record, posting a series of Labor Day-themed messages about job growth and what he calls a “Golden Age of Prosperity” for American workers.
