Trump Announces Major Iranian Offer of Oil Tankers

President Trump revealed that Iran has presented him with a ‘significant prize’ during ongoing discussions aimed at resolving conflict, disclosing on Thursday that Tehran ‘gifted’ him ten large oil tankers.

After days of speculation, Trump clarified that the initial offer included eight tankers. He recounted, “They said, ‘To show you that we’re real and solid, we’re going to let you have eight boats of oil.’” This statement was made three days prior, and Trump admitted he initially dismissed it.

He later observed reports regarding tankers traversing the Strait of Hormuz, confirming the Iranians’ adherence to their commitment.

Upon seeing the tankers, Trump remarked, “And then I watched the news, and they said… ‘there are eight boats that are going right up the middle of the Hormuz Strait.’” He interpreted this development as validation of the seriousness of the negotiations.

In fact, Trump noted that the olive branch didn’t end with eight boats. He stated, “They then apologized for something and said, ‘We’re going to send two more boats,’ bringing the total to ten.”

The Implications of the Offer

While Trump did not clarify whether the oil would be sold, confiscated, or handled through intermediaries, he emphasized the strategic nature of Iran’s gesture.

He believes the movement of the tankers is a substantial leverage point for his administration as it seeks to reopen vital shipping routes and stabilize the energy market, especially given the significance of the Strait of Hormuz in this context.

This acknowledgment by Iran may signal a critical shift in their approach and could represent a turning point in diplomatic relations.
