Trump Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Aliens Receiving Taxpayer Benefits

Scott Turner, Housing and Urban Development secretary announced that the Trump administration will crack down on illegal immigrants who are living in public housing funded by taxpayers.

Turner stated that every housing authority in the United States has 30 days from now to perform an audit proving their residents either are U.S. Citizens or have “eligible status.”

Turner wrote: “Illegal aliens will no longer be able leave citizenship boxes empty or benefit from HUD-funded homes, riding on the coattails hardworking American citizenry,” Turner said. Turner said that the lax enforcement left millions behind. He stated, “Currently HUD serves only one in four families eligible due to, in part to, the lack enforcement of federally funded assistance for illegal aliens”.

Turner said that any local agency failing to follow the rules could be subjected to a “funding examination” by federal officials.

Turner , appearing on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” with Charles Hurt revealed the D.C. Housing Authority was the first one to receive a notice. More than 3,000 other housing authorities will follow. He said that the mission is straightforward: “Americans will be given priority.”

Republicans applauded this move. Senator Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio posted to X: “Anyone who is in the country illegally shouldn’t be given public funded housing!

Critics argued, however, that this policy would waste valuable resources. Cat Vielma, a former HUD employee wrote: “This law is in place — proof of citizenship for public housing and section 8 units is required.” The requirement of a second immediate accounting won’t result in a mass correction or eviction. This will divert the staff away from helping American veterans, seniors etc.”

This housing review follows a memorandum signed by Turner and Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem in March to eliminate illegal immigrants who benefit from government programs. It is a dramatic reversal of Biden’s leniency.

Noem was unapologetic in her defense of the initiative. She said, “The whole government will be working together to identify abuses and exploitations of public benefits. We’ll make sure that those who are in the country illegally do not receive federal benefits or any other financial incentives for them to remain illegally.” If you’re an illegal alien, leave the country now. “The gravy train has ended.”

This effort is part a broader Trump Administration push to restore the order in Democrat run cities. Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, Los Angeles, California, all saw a surge in National Guard and federal law enforcement troops to combat rising crime.
