The ex-girlfriend of transgender Minneapolis school shooter Robin Westman has been identified as 22-year-old Abigail Bodick.
Westman, 23, killed two children and injured 18 others last week after opening fire at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis before taking his own life.
Troubled Relationship
Bodick, described by the outlet as a “furry,” was pictured in costume at an anime convention earlier this year. Photos on social media also showed her and Westman together at a Renaissance fair, aquarium, and craft event.
Westman’s father told investigators his son recently ended the relationship, calling it a turning point before the massacre.
In documents later linked to him, Westman repeatedly blamed “Aby” or “Abbey” as a “catalyst” for his anger, referring to her as the “root of my suffering.”
Disturbing Writings
The gunman described pointing a pistol at the back of Bodick’s head weeks before the shooting. “I felt no remorse or fear of killing them, I was only concerned about how murdering Abbey would really f–k up my plans,” he wrote.
Westman admitted he bought the firearm specifically “to kill kids” and wrote extensively about his desire for mass murder. “I want to kill so many people. I will do it,” he declared.
Attack at Catholic School
On the day of the massacre, Westman fired 116 rifle rounds through stained-glass windows during Mass in the first week of school. Eight-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski were killed.
Sixteen other children and three elderly parishioners were injured before Westman ended his own life.
