Tragic Passing of Beloved Actor Patrick Muldoon at 57

Patrick Muldoon, widely recognized for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has sadly passed away at the age of 57.

His manager confirmed that Muldoon suffered a heart attack Sunday morning at his Beverly Hills residence with girlfriend Miriam Rothbart. According to reports, when Rothbart checked on him, he was found unconscious on the bathroom floor.

Attempts by paramedics to revive him were made on the scene, but unfortunately, he could not be saved. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, provided details of the incident to TMZ.

Muldoon’s acting journey began while he was a student at the University of Southern California, landing guest spots on shows like Who’s the Boss? and a recurring role shortly after graduating on Saved by the Bell.

Rise to Fame

His significant break came when he joined the cast of Days of Our Lives, portraying boxer Austin Reed from 1992 to 1995, and later making a comeback from 2011 to 2012. He also captivated audiences as the antagonist Richard Hart on Melrose Place during its third to fifth seasons.

On the silver screen, Muldoon starred in the 1997 sci-fi classic Starship Troopers as Zander Barcalow, sharing the stage with well-known actors like Casper Van Dien and Denise Richards, who remained a close friend until his untimely death.

He and Richards had a recent collaboration in a crime thriller titled Dirty Hands, scheduled for release this year. Their friendship extended to reality television, where they appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Denise Richards & Her Wild Things.

Personal Life and Creative Pursuits

Muldoon’s personal life often drew considerable media attention, with past relationships including notable figures such as Lisa Rinna and Tori Spelling. He also explored music, serving as lead singer and guitarist for the band The Sleeping Masses alongside his endeavors in film production.

As an executive producer, he had credits on several films, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes and Kockroach, the latter of which is still being filmed and stars Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.

Just a day before his death, Muldoon expressed his excitement for the project KOCKROACH in an Instagram post, highlighting the film’s impressive cast and ongoing production in Australia.

Fans quickly filled the comments section with love and tributes, with one commenting: “Grew up watching you in Starship Troopers. RIP legend.”

His most recent public appearance was made in March at the 2026 Saturn Awards, where he posed for photos alongside Denise Richards.

Remembering Muldoon

Many co-stars and fans took to social media to mourn his passing. Alison Sweeney, a former co-star from Days of Our Lives, stated on X: “This is such heartbreaking news.” Dina Meyer from Starship Troopers remarked: “I can’t believe he’s gone. Pat was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known and was like a brother to me.”

Muldoon leaves behind his girlfriend Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., his sister Shana, brother-in-law Ahmet Zappa, and their children Halo and Arrow Zappa.
