Dylan Carter, a promising country artist who gained fame on The Voice, has tragically passed away at the young age of 24 due to a car accident in South Carolina.
Born in Colleton County and raised in Moncks Corner, Carter was involved in a serious crash as reported by WCBD News 2. While authorities have not disclosed specific details surrounding the incident or the cause of death, the community is mourning.
The news has deeply affected his hometown, where Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. described Carter as a beloved figure who was a friend to many.
“Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident. He touched many lives with his beautiful music during community events.
“His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be painfully felt. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this sorrowful time.
“The Town of Moncks Corner, along with its Council and staff, offers heartfelt sympathies. Beyond being an entertainer, he was a cherished friend and we are profoundly saddened.”
Carter was also significantly involved in philanthropy. The Local Voice, an organization supporting women fighting breast cancer, recognized his contributions, saying he helped establish the group and frequently performed at their events.
“With heavy hearts, we share the news of Dylan Carter’s passing,” they stated. “He was co-founder of The Local Voice, a talented musician, and an essential part of our community.
“Dylan embodied the spirit of our mission; he believed every voice matters and made that apparent every day. Through his music and kindness, he united people and ensured everyone felt valued.
“A proud Lowcountry citizen, Dylan also owned Sunny Days RV & Campground and worked as a realtor, always supporting others in finding their homes.”
Before rising to fame, Carter experienced significant personal loss; his mother passed away in 2022. He later reflected on how that grief influenced one of his standout performances.

The Local Voice continued, “We are heartbroken, but find solace knowing he is with his mother in heaven. We are incredibly thankful for Dylan’s love for this community and will strive to honor his legacy.
“Please remember his family in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”
At just 20 years old when he auditioned for The Voice in 2023, Carter captivated the judges with his rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Look to You, a tribute to his late mother. He confided that he struggled to sing it at her funeral, unable to finish the song.
McEntire, visibly moved, expressed, “I felt your emotion when you sang. Songs that touch the heart are the hallmark of a great artist.
“As a performer, that’s what truly matters—touching hearts, and you certainly did that.”
Carter chose McEntire as his mentor, saying, “I felt drawn to her. She represented a comforting mother figure for me.”
Although his journey concluded in the Battle Rounds, Carter continued to perform across Lowcountry, actively participating in local charitable events, including fundraisers for The Local Voice.
