Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) expressed to Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) lacks the necessary qualifications for the speakership.
Massie outlined a scenario in which he envisions Johnson agreeing to step down once the GOP conference reaches a consensus on a successor.
During his appearance on Breitbart News Daily with host Mike Slater, Massie reiterated his call for Johnson’s resignation and announced his support for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) motion to vacate.
Although the motion is not currently privileged, Greene has the ability to make it privileged at any time, compelling the House to address it within two days.
When asked about the issues he sees with Johnson as speaker, Massie stated, “He’s simply not suited for this role,” highlighting Johnson’s perceived inability to effectively negotiate with Democrats.
“Every negotiation he’s gone into with Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden, he’s received nothing in exchange,” Massie said.
“He’s either not good at negotiating, or he’s negotiating for their side.”
“He’s done an omnibus that broke Nancy Pelosi’s spending records,” he continued.
“He reauthorized FISA without warrants.
“Now he’s going for the trifecta to pass the Ukraine spending without doing anything to enforce our border.
“That will be three strikes in addition to just the poor management of the House.”
