Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg refutes former President Donald Trump’s claim that electric vehicles are not popular. Buttigieg addressed Trump’s criticism of the Biden administration’s promotion of EVs during an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation.” When shown a clip of Trump speaking negatively about EVs at a rally in New Jersey, Buttigieg dismissed the comments as inaccurate.
“Do you notice he’s trying to save the electrical vehicle, but not the gas-powered, which is the vehicle that everybody wants,” Trump said.”They’re going crazy with the electric car, costing us a fortune. We’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars subsidizing a car that nobody wants and nobody’s ever going to buy.”
