Left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin is going through a tough time right now. She’s been vocal on social media about her struggles, describing herself as “melting down” amid the “shitshow” unfolding around her.
Griffin used X – formerly known as Twitter – to tell her followers what is going down:
“My life happens to be a bit of a s* show right now. Mental health stuff,” the 63-year-old said. “But you know what calms my a down? Stepping on that stage. Seriously, I am pretty much melting down most the time until my feet hit that stage. So thank you for Friday in Norwalk, Connecticut, and thank you for Saturday for two shows in Ptown, Mass [Provincetown, Massachusetts],” she wrote.
Griffin is currently on tour across the United States and Canada, with performances scheduled through the end of the year.
Newsweek points out that in recent years, Kathy Griffin, known for her show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, has been candid about her divorce from Randy Bick and her battle with lung cancer.
In 2017, she faced widespread public backlash after posing for a photo holding a fake, bloodied decapitated head designed to look like President Donald Trump.
The photo sparked a firestorm online, quickly spreading and prompting calls to boycott Griffin’s work, including her cross-country comedy tour at the time.
The comedian later issued an apology in a brief video on her Twitter account, acknowledging that she had “crossed the line” and that the image had gone “too far.”
