Suspect Arrested at Mar-a-Lago With Weapons and ‘Urgent Message’ for Trump

A 49-year-old woman from Orlando was arrested after she allegedly drove to President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate late Sunday night and insisted to Secret Service agents that she had an “urgent message” for the president.

The woman, identified as Caroline Shaw, was taken into custody around 10:00 p.m. on July 7, according to court records reviewed by the Palm Beach Daily News. Trump was not present at the estate — he was in Washington, D.C. at the time of the incident.

Secret Service, Police Act Quickly

According to the arrest report, Shaw drove her gray Mercedes van to the south gate of Mar-A-Lago, exited her vehicle, and approached the gate — claiming she needed to speak with President Trump.

Secret Service agents contacted Palm Beach Police, who responded to the scene. After officers arrived, Shaw reportedly informed them she had weapons in her vehicle. A handgun was recovered from inside the van.

Legal Status: Suspended License, Expired Registration, Firearm Risk Order

Court documents reveal Shaw’s driver’s license had been suspended since April 2023 due to unpaid traffic tickets, and her vehicle registration had been expired since December 2021.

She has been charged with:

During her July 8 court appearance, Palm Beach County Judge Donald Hafele ordered Shaw to:

Additionally, a risk protection order was filed to bar Shaw from possessing firearms or ammunition for at least a year, due to concerns about potential danger to herself or others.

A Pattern of Escalating Security Incidents

Shaw’s arrest is just the latest in a troubling string of security breaches at Mar-A-Lago since President Trump’s return to office in January.

June Incident: Obsession with President’s Granddaughter

Last month, Anthony Thomas Reyes, 23, was arrested after scaling a fence at Mar-A-Lago. He told law enforcement he wanted to marry President Trump’s granddaughter, Kai, and “spread the gospel.”

  • Reyes was initially charged with trespassing

  • His bond was increased from $1,000 to $50,000

Trump was also in Washington, D.C. at the time of this incident.

April Incident: Woman Tries to “Have Dinner” with Don Jr.

On April 12, Adrienne Tajirian of Pennsylvania was arrested after trying to gain access to Mar-A-Lago under the pretense of dining with Donald Trump Jr.
