An active shooter attacked a synagogue in Michigan on Thursday, following a vehicle crash into the building. Local authorities confirmed the incident at Temple Israel.
Reports indicate that the suspect drove a car into the synagogue before opening fire. Images from the scene depict a significant police presence, with visible smoke emerging from windows and a roof vent.
Video footage showed numerous law enforcement vehicles responding, including units from Michigan State Police and neighboring agencies.

Temple Israel, a Reform Jewish congregation, also operates a preschool on the premises. In light of the situation, the West Bloomfield School District alerted families, indicating there was a police situation in the area.
The Jewish Federation of Detroit issued a public safety notice, advising individuals to avoid the vicinity as law enforcement addresses the incident.
They confirmed awareness of the active situation at Temple Israel and stated, “Our Jewish agencies are currently in precautionary lockdown. We urge community members to stay away from the area at this time.”
