Sheriff Hints At New Detainments In Nancy Guthrie Investigation

The search for Nancy Guthrie is intensifying as authorities say more detentions are likely, nearly two weeks after the Tucson grandmother vanished.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators are continuing to pursue leads as the case entered its 12th day, though officials acknowledge there have been few major breakthroughs.

The FBI has been combing the unforgiving desert terrain surrounding Guthrie’s home since she was abducted in the early hours of Feb. 1. Agents have focused on rugged scrubland near the $1 million property belonging to Savannah Guthrie’s mother, where surveillance footage captured the suspected intruder.

Doorbell camera video released by investigators shows a man wearing a ski mask and thick gloves approaching the residence. The figure appears to realize the device is recording before tearing the camera from its mount.

FBI Director Kash Patel said authorities are examining “multiple” persons of interest but declined to provide additional details. No arrests have been announced.

On Tuesday, a man identifying himself as Carlos Palazuelos was brought in for questioning while authorities executed a search of his property. He was later released.

Investigators conducted what officials described as an inch-by-inch ground search Wednesday across the desert landscape near Guthrie’s home. During that sweep, authorities recovered a black glove resembling one seen in the surveillance footage.

Nanos told KOLD that investigators are continuing to sift through thousands of tips submitted after the video was made public. Officials have not said whether the glove is directly tied to the suspect.

The sheriff stressed that the investigation remains active and evolving as authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
