Witnesses described seeing the alleged shooter climb onto a rooftop with a rifle, positioned directly across from the podium where President Trump was speaking to over 15,000 supporters. Numerous individuals recounted how they urgently alerted law enforcement to the imminent threat, begging for immediate action.
We previously covered a CNN report citing law enforcement officials, which revealed that Crooks purchased the ladder from Home Depot on the day he attempted to assassinate Trump from the roof of a nearby building.
If this report is accurate, Crooks may have bypassed law enforcement and the Secret Service while carrying a tall ladder, which he then used to climb the building unnoticed.
According to CNN:
On Friday, he went to a shooting range where he was a member, and practiced firing, a law enforcement official told CNN. The next morning, Crooks went to a Home Depot, where he bought a five-foot ladder, and a gun store, where he purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, the official said.
Americans and Republican members of Congress have raised numerous questions about how the Secret Service failed to prevent a 20-year-old man from scaling a building with a rifle just 150 yards from a former President and leading 2024 presidential candidate.
Many are calling for U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign from her position.
The Daily Mail is now reporting that Secret Service Director Cheatle has given a perplexing explanation for the lack of a security presence on the roof with a clear line of sight to Trump.
She said, “That building, in particular, has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”
Just compare the slope of the roof where U.S. Secret Service snipers were positioned to the roof where the alleged shooter was perched for over half an hour.
New details also reveal that a team of local police snipers were inside the building when the 20-year-old Crooks opened fire, wounding Trump in the ear and killing a member of the rally crowd.
Crooks evaded police and the Secret Service three times, despite being considered ‘suspicious,’ and may have been on the roof for up to 30 minutes before firing the shot.
If President Trump hadn’t turned his head, he would have been killed.
The actions of the Secret Service and local police are inexcusable. If Secret Service agents are trained to take a bullet for the President, surely they can figure out how to position themselves on a slightly sloped roof!

Throwing local police under the bus should do wonders for local cooperation in the future. These people are an illness.
