Veteran actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell took to TikTok Wednesday to predict ABC might cancel The View, blaming what she claimed was a network crackdown on “truth.”
Her rant came after reports that ABC would review the show’s liberal bias. “They say they want ‘balance,’” O’Donnell wrote. “But what they mean is silence. Silence anything that doesn’t praise the orange messiah and his golden escalator of lies.”
From ‘Fascism’ to First Amendment Rhetoric
O’Donnell accused her critics of pushing “fascism” and “dictatorship,” adding, “I used to think the First Amendment meant something.” She also claimed the issue was about “what happens when powerful men decide they’ve heard enough from women.”
The outburst is only the latest from Hollywood figures still obsessed with President Trump years into his political career.
Media Landscape Shifting
Her comments follow other recent shakeups in liberal media: CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and reports suggest SiriusXM may drop longtime Trump critic Howard Stern when his current contract ends.
These shows, along with The View, have spent years alienating Trump supporters — and bleeding viewers.
USAID Speculation
Some pro-Trump commentators have linked the cancellations to the Trump administration’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). In February, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called USAID a “sinister propagator of totalitarianism… and war across the globe.”
Questions have since emerged about whether USAID funds were used to prop up establishment-friendly news and entertainment programs. Many on social media see a correlation between the loss of USAID funding and the recent wave of cancellations.
