RNC Holds Significant Cash Advantage Over Dem Rivals

The Republican National Committee (RNC) currently holds a substantial cash-on-hand advantage over the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as the parties prepare for the 2026 midterm elections.

According to year-end filings submitted to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the period covering January 1 to December 31, 2025, the RNC reported approximately $95 million in cash on hand at the end of 2025, while the DNC reported about $14 million. This results in a difference of roughly $81 million, a figure that rises $100 million when rounded or contextualized with other factors.

The RNC raised $172 million in total receipts during 2025. In comparison, the DNC raised $145 million over the same period, meaning the RNC out-raised the DNC by approximately $27 million for the year.

The DNC also carries debt of around $17 million to $17.5 million, stemming from expenses related to the previous election cycle, which places the committee in a net negative position to begin 2026.

This financial disparity at the national party level is part of a broader picture for the major party committees involved in congressional races.

For House campaigns, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) ended 2025 with $117 million in cash on hand, compared to $115 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Reports indicate both House committees started 2026 with roughly similar amounts around $50 million after accounting for early-year adjustments, though the NRCC held a slight edge at year-end.

In Senate-related fundraising, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) raised $88 million in 2025 and closed the year with $19.3 million in cash on hand. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) raised $79.8 million but ended with $21.7 million in cash on hand, giving it a modest edge in reserves despite lower overall fundraising for the year.

Overall, Republican-aligned national party committees (RNC, NRCC, and NRSC combined) raised more than their Democratic counterparts (DNC, DCCC, and DSCC) in 2025, with totals around $378 million for Republicans versus $341 million for Democrats in some aggregated figures.

The latest figures come from FEC disclosures released in early 2026, covering the full 2025 calendar year.

“House Republicans are running laps around Democrats because we have unstoppable momentum and a winning message. We’re charging full steam ahead to grow our majority in November, “National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Mike Marinella said in a statement to The Hill.

The latest report comes as President Donald Trump gears up for an aggressive midterm campaign cycle. Trump has held a number of rallies in battleground states and has indicated that he will be campaigning as if it were a presidential election year.

“You gotta win the midterms. Because if we don’t win the midterms…they’ll find a reason to impeach me,” Trump told the Republican conference at its retreat at the Kennedy Center last month.
