Riyadh Embassy Targeted as Iran Widens Retaliation Campaign

Two drones struck the U.S. Embassy compound in Riyadh early Tuesday, igniting a limited blaze and producing only minor damage while exposing how rapidly Iran’s retaliation campaign is spreading across the Middle East.

Saudi officials reported no immediate injuries, but Americans were ordered to shelter in place as the attack underscored Tehran’s growing focus on U.S. personnel and diplomatic sites.

The strike occurred amid a broader round of Iranian counterattacks triggered by recent American and Israeli strikes, turning what began as a response to Operation Epic Fury into a region-wide assault.

Missiles and drones have begun striking U.S. allies and Western-linked locations far beyond Israel, expanding the battlefield across the Gulf.

The U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia directed Americans in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dhahran to shelter in place and warned that travel to military installations would be restricted.

Regional Escalation

Iranian missiles were launched toward Israel, triggering sirens across the country.

The United Arab Emirates reported its air defenses were intercepting a wave of ballistic missiles.

Bahrain also sounded alarms as the regional fallout widened.

Hours before the embassy strike, U.S. officials had issued a sweeping advisory urging Americans to leave Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, Syria, Yemen and Jordan because of serious safety risks.

That earlier advisory now appears prophetic.

Meanwhile, U.S. and Israeli forces continued strikes on Iranian and proxy targets, with U.S. Central Command saying American forces had destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities and other military targets.

The Israel Defense Forces reported simultaneous strikes on military targets in Tehran and Beirut after Hezbollah launched missiles from Lebanon toward Israel.

The drone strike on the embassy is a clear sign that Iran is no longer confined to exchanging blows with Israel.

It is now threatening American facilities and allied capitals across the Gulf, opening a dangerous new chapter in the conflict.

Talk of de-escalation rings hollow on the ground as Tehran targets U.S. interests, officials urge citizens to leave, and a key American diplomatic compound has been set ablaze.

American strength and clear policy are needed now to protect our diplomats and deter Tehran.
