Pro-Trump Protester Interrupts Democrats’ People’s SOTU Rally

A pro-Trump activist briefly interrupted Sen. Chris Murphy’s remarks at an outdoor People’s State of the Union event while President Trump delivered his State of the Union address.

The gathering on the National Mall was backed by MoveOn.org and intended to counter the president’s speech.

A man in a red hat and green hooded sweatshirt rushed forward as Murphy introduced Fereshteh Ganjavi, the founder and executive director of Elena’s Light.

The protester shouted “Go Trump” near the stage before security moved in and escorted him away.

Murphy acknowledged the interruption and said, “Thanks, man. Thanks, buddy,” as order was restored and the rally continued.

Pro-Trump energy on display

The brief outburst underscored the enthusiasm of Trump supporters even at a progressive gathering on the Mall.

Inside the Capitol, President Trump emphasized border enforcement, economic growth and a return to “law and order.”

Outside, Democrats focused on immigration and social policy and criticized the administration’s approach to border and interior enforcement.

Rally continues

The interruption was short and security swiftly restored order without further incident.

The episode highlighted the sharp political divide that framed the evening’s events.

The senator had declined to attend the president’s address in the House chamber and instead joined fellow Democrats at the outdoor rally.

The event proceeded with Ganjavi and others speaking about refugee integration and support efforts in Connecticut.

The moment served as a symbolic reminder of the debate over immigration and enforcement that dominated the night.
