Pope Francis Warns: ‘Besides War, Our World Is Threatened by Another Great Danger, Climate Change’

On Sunday, Pope Francis declared that global warming goes against God’s plan and poses a substantial threat to all “life on earth.”

“Besides war, our world is threatened by another great danger, that of the climate, which puts life on Earth, especially for the future generations, at risk,” the pontiff stated in a written text, which was read aloud by his aide Monsignor Paolo Braida following the weekly Angelus prayer.

“And this is contrary to the plan of God, who created everything for life,” he added.

Driven by this apocalyptic concern, the pope mentioned that in the upcoming weekend, he plans to “go to the United Arab Emirates to speak at the COP 28 in Dubai,” despite a lung infection that led to the cancellation of several appointments over the weekend.

“I thank everyone who will accompany this journey with prayer and with the commitment to take to heart the preservation of the common home,” he concluded.

The fight against climate change has been a prominent feature of Francis’ decade-long papacy, and in October, he released an apostolic exhortation warning that the world “is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point” due to global warming.

In that letter, titled Laudate Deum (Praise God), the pontiff called out the United States by name, blaming an “irresponsible lifestyle” for fueling the climate crisis.

“If we consider that emissions per individual in the United States are about two times greater than those of individuals living in China and about seven times greater than the average of the poorest countries, we can state that a broad change in the irresponsible lifestyle connected with the Western model would have a significant long-term impact,” he wrote.

The pope criticized climate change “deniers,” insisting that it “no longer possible to doubt the human – ‘anthropic’ – origin of climate change.”

He pointed out that global warming is caused by “the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere,” currently measured at 423 parts per million as of June 2023.

“No one can ignore the fact that in recent years we have witnessed extreme weather phenomena, frequent periods of unusual heat, drought, and other cries of protest on the part of the earth that are only a few palpable expressions of a silent disease that affects everyone,” he declared.

“Despite all attempts to deny, conceal, gloss over, or relativize the issue, the signs of climate change are here and increasingly evident,” he stated.

Francis has often criticized a “politics of fear” and “alarmism” as enemies of the democratic process but has himself stoked fears of an impending climate apocalypse in order to incite people to action.

He has called the effects of climate change “catastrophic,” arguing that atmospheric warming is “a global problem with grave implications” and “one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day.”

However, in August of this year, a coalition of over 1,600 distinguished scientists, including two Nobel Prize winners, released the “World Climate Declaration.”

In this declaration, they explicitly asserted: “There is no climate emergency.”

“Climate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science,” the scholars asserted, offering a number of reasons for their criticisms.

The Declaration stated, for instance, that climate models have proven insufficient in forecasting global warming, carbon dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant, and climate change has not led to an increase in natural disasters.

“There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts, and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent,” the document stated.

“However, there is ample evidence that CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly.”

“There is no climate emergency,” it concluded.

“Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm.”

I’m not, but grw up ina Catholic area, In 2nd grade they held pre-1st communion catechism in our public school, and I was the only Protestant in the class so sat through them too, having nowhere else I could go for that time. This man doesn’t even adhere to Catholic catechism or dogma, let alone the broader tenets of Christianity. I can’t agree with murder; execution requires due process, however, I do believe he should be removed from office, before he leads any more astray. Things he promotes and supports are harmful, spiritually, and emotionally, at least; some even physically. The prophets have some pretty harsh words for shepherds who lead astray.

Great reporting, Hunter Fielding!
“Climate Change” has turned into a religion for millions. Apparently the Catholic faith doesn’t get THIS Pope’s adrenalin running. He needs to get it up with some climate change.

One Good Thing About Being Wrong Is the Pleasure it Brings to Others!!!
The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate, at Bergen, Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone.
Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.
Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.
Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.
Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

OOOPS!! ...

I must apologize.
I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post – 93 years ago.

This must have been caused by the Model T Ford’s emissions or possibly from horse and cattle flatulence?
