Eric Holder: NC Republicans ‘Don’t Give a Damn’ About Democracy Because of Voter Fraud Prevention Measures

Former Attorney General under Barack Obama Eric Holder claimed on Twitter/X that Republicans “don’t give a damn about American democracy.”

His claim came after an article was shared that dove into voter registration legislation proposed by Republicans in North Carolina.

Holder shared:

“They just never give up.

“They don’t give a damn about American democracy.”

This was in response to NDRC’s claim:

“North Carolina Republicans are advancing a new voting restriction bill ahead of the 2024 election, targeting everything from mail-in ballots to poll observer conduct.

“Their basis for the bill?

“Unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud.”

The legislation would among many other things, eliminate a 3-day grace period for mail-in ballots.

The elimination of the grace period has many Democrats furious, Holder included.

Many of the Republican legislators have worked towards making elections more secure.

The legislation is headed to the desk of North Carolina’s Democrat governor’s desk where it is anticipated to be vetoed.

This may not be the death of the changes as the legislature could vote to override the veto, and this is the anticipated track of the bill.

During the pandemic, many states pushed the limits on how they handled their elections.

This caused many to feel that election results may not have been fair due to mail-in ballots.

Since then, Republicans have made moves to secure future elections.

Democrats continue to bemoan the moves made by the GOP, and this hasn’t stopped them.

Actually, democracy doesn’t exist and it never has. Even our ‘forefathers’ assured democracy remained in the hands of those more educated than the masses because they feared under a democratic rule, the peasants would rule over the landholders. As for being a ‘republic’ that’s only true if laws on the books are being enforced rather than created on a whim – as Hitler did.
