Obama-Appointed Judge Criticized for Inappropriate Behavior in Chambers

A federal judge associated with former President Obama is under scrutiny following a judicial conduct report detailing inappropriate sexual behavior occurring in her chambers during regular working hours.

Eleanor Ross, serving on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, reportedly engaged in a two-year affair with an anonymous police department commander. The report notes that this relationship not only posed a “conflict-of-interest risk” but also made clerks feel “extremely uncomfortable and troubling.”

Although the committee report from May 22 did not publicly name the judge, reality TV personality Todd Chrisley disclosed her identity on social media after the allegations resurfaced.

Chrisley voiced strong criticism via Instagram, saying, “This corrupt judge who couldn’t focus on our case because she was too busy clapping dem cheeks in her chambers … she needs to be impeached and we will work with Congress and our legal team to see that this happens.”

The report indicated that Ross engaged in sexual encounters “in chambers and during business hours,” demonstrating what was described as “a gross lack of judgment” throughout the relationship from 2023 to 2025. These activities were reportedly audible to her staff.

Additionally, the committee found that Ross improperly attended a politically charged event hosted by a district attorney’s campaign and made false statements when questioned by her peers regarding her conduct.

At 58 years old, Ross was nominated by Obama in 2014 and confirmed by the Senate. Her background includes roles as a state court judge, a federal prosecutor, and a prosecutor at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Ross was the presiding judge in Chrisley’s 2022 trial, ultimately sentencing him to 12 years for federal charges such as bank fraud and tax evasion, a judgment later overturned by a pardon from President Trump.

The May 22 directive affirms a February misconduct finding issued by the judicial council of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
