NEW: Veteran Dem Operative Charged With Heinous Crimes Against Children

A veteran Democratic Party operative in Virginia has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography, federal prosecutors announced Friday.

Randon Alexander Sprinkle, a resident of Henrico County, Virginia, allegedly engaged in conversations with an undercover FBI agent in May of this year through the gay dating app Jack’d.

A criminal complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division on Friday. According to the supporting 9-page FBI affidavit, the investigation began in May 2025 when Sprinkle, using the username “Randy,” asked the undercover agent if he wanted to move the conversation to the messaging app Telegram.

Upon doing so, he allegedly stated, “mostly into young, rape, incest – you?” The affidavit further notes that investigators were able to identify and locate him through subsequent interactions.

On October 16, agents from the FBI’s Richmond field office executed a federal search warrant at Sprinkle’s residence.

A forensic examination of his computer and electronic devices revealed two archived files containing child pornography. One file included a 16-second video depicting an adult male sexually assaulting an infant.

In total, investigators extracted 68 files from the devices, some with titles indicating explicit content involving minors. The affidavit suggests evidence of distribution through peer-to-peer networks used for exchanging illegal images and videos.

Sprinkle was arrested following the search and made an initial appearance in federal court. He is currently detained at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, pending further proceedings.

Sprinkle, who previously held positions as finance chairman for the Democratic Party of Virginia and treasurer for the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats, faces a single federal count of distributing child pornography.

Several Democratic Party officials and operatives who had associations with Sprinkle issued statements following his arrest.

“What has been alleged is disgusting and abhorrent. I’m shocked and sickened,” said Richmond City Council Vice President Katherine Jordan. Sprinkle had recently served as Jordan’s campaign treasurer in 2024.

First District Council member Andrew Breton, who used Sprinkle for campaign finance and event logistics, stated, “The allegations are shocking and disturbing. I am grateful that law enforcement is involved, and that justice is taking its course.”

A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Jennifer McClellan — who represents Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District — said the congresswoman is “shocked by these appalling accusations which should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Sprinkle previously served as McClellan’s regional political director during her unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign in 2021. The two also had several interactions on social media, including an October 13, 2024 X post in which the congresswoman thanked Sprinkle for distributing campaign literature.
