NBA Superstar Stephen Curry Reveals He Is Considering Running for President

During an interview broadcasted on March 12th, NBA superstar Stephen Curry expressed his openness to the possibility of running for political office, including the presidency.

“Maybe,” said the Golden State Warriors shooting guard on “CBS Mornings” when asked if he would run for the White House.

“I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good in a way that I can, so if that’s the way to do it, then, I’m not saying the presidency,” he said before being interrupted by the interviewer who reminded him that he said “maybe” to running for president.

He stated that he will not run in 2028.

Mr. Curry appeared on CBS to promote his second children’s book, “I Am Extraordinary,” a fictional tale about a girl named Zoe who learns to embrace her differences while wearing hearing aids.

Through Zoe’s journey, the book emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and diversity, ultimately leading her to join her school’s soccer team.

This isn’t the first instance where Mr. Curry, renowned as one of the greatest three-point shooters in history, has voiced his views on politics.

Following the Warriors’ victory in the 2017 NBA finals, Mr. Curry expressed his opposition to attending the White House for the customary championship celebration hosted by the president.

“I don’t want to go,” he told to reporters. In response, then-President Donald Trump revoked the invitation.

“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!” he posted on Twitter (now X).

In 2020, Mr. Curry gave his endorsement to President Joe Biden.

The previous year, Mr. Curry refrained from criticizing China for its actions undermining Hong Kong’s sovereignty.

In 2015, Mr. Curry featured in an advertisement for the pro-gun control organization Everytown For Gun Safety.

“I have a voice and I want to share it and stop gun violence in its entirety. I heard about a shooting involving a 3-year-old girl over the summer. My daughter Riley’s that age,” he said.

“Whatever we can do to hopefully change our culture, that’s what we’re here for,” he continued. “I have a voice, and I want to share it and stop gun violence in its entirety,” he concluded.
