National Poll: Trump Beats Biden in Election Landslide If It Were Held Today

A recent nationwide poll shows that not only would former President Donald Trump defeat President Biden in the 2024 presidential election should it be held today, but he would also secure a “landslide” electoral victory.

The McLaughlin national survey reveals that Trump leads Biden by 47% to 43%, marking a 2-point increase just within this month. The pollsters also assigned four additional points to Biden 2020 voters compared to Trump 2020 voters. This resulted in an impressive 8-point shift in favor of Trump compared to the 2020 election, with a percentage of Biden supporters evidently switching allegiance.

In the crucial battleground states, Trump maintains a commanding lead over Biden, with a 49% to 41% advantage. If the election were held today, Trump would win in a landslide, the pollsters claim.

This poll, in conjunction with other national surveys, reinforces the significant resurgence of support for Trump. It’s important to note that Trump never won the popular vote in either the 2016 or 2020 national elections, and most polls had him trailing in the popular vote for both contests. However, the latest polling shows him in the lead.

This surge in Trump’s popularity appears to be a key factor driving Joe Biden’s efforts to keep Trump off the ballot with his allies waging political prosecutions. Trump also appears to be the Republican candidate with the strongest chance of defeating Joe Biden, according to the pollsters.

Two fundamental trends highlighted in the recent national poll indicate that Donald Trump is on a path to victory in 2024. This poll was conducted after the announcement of President Trump’s indictment in Fulton County and just before the Republican debate.

It surveyed 1,000 likely voters with a margin of error of +/-3.1% at a 95% confidence interval and took place between August 15th and 23rd.

Firstly, Trump is running a campaign strategically focused on defeating Joe Biden, whom he has characterized as “the single worst president in American history.” Public opinion appears to align with Trump, as indicated by Biden’s negative job approval rating, with 43% approving and 55% disapproving. A significant 72% of undecided voters also disapprove of Biden’s performance, suggesting hidden support for Trump.

Under Biden’s leadership, 67% of voters believe the country is on the wrong track, while only 25% think it’s headed in the right direction. An overwhelming 83% of undecided presidential voters agree that the country is on the wrong track. Additionally, 64% of voters believe that the economy is deteriorating, and 83% have been negatively impacted by inflation, with 45% struggling to afford basic necessities.

Vice President Kamala Harris has a favorability rating of only 37%, with 54% unfavorable. Trump maintains a strong lead over her, with 50% support compared to her 40%. On the generic congressional ballot, Republicans lead 48% to 42%.

In summary, the poll suggests the race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump has shifted significantly, with Trump now holding a clear lead. While it is still early in the election cycle, Trump’s support has proven to be resilient in the face of political adversity.
